US President Donald Trump has announced that his government will increase the U.S. military budget for the year 2027 from approximately Sh180 trillion (equivalent to $1 trillion) to Sh270 trillion (about $1.5 trillion).
The announcement came after long and difficult negotiations with Senators, Congressmen, Secretaries, and other Political Representatives, highlighting Trump’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s defense amid very troubled and dangerous times.
“After long and difficult negotiations, I have determined that, for the good of our country, especially in these very troubled and dangerous times, our military budget for the year 2027 should not be Sh129 trillion but rather Sh193.5 trillion.” Trump declared.
The US president emphasized that this substantial increase would enable the US to build the “Dream Military”, a military force he described as essential to keeping America “safe and secure, regardless of foe.”
Trump attributed the possibility of such an unprecedented increase in military spending to the revenue generated from tariffs imposed on foreign countries.
“If it weren’t for the tremendous numbers being produced by Tariffs from other Countries, many of which, in the past, have ‘ripped off’ the United States at levels never seen before, I would stay at the Sh129 trillion number,” he explained.
He added that tariff income has generated tremendous income, amounts that would have been unthinkable in the past, particularly during the previous administration under President Joe Biden, whom Trump described as the Worst President in the History of US!”
Thanks to these tariffs, Trump said, the government can easily hit the Sh270 trillion number.
Beyond just increasing military might, Trump stressed fiscal responsibility, noting that this expansion would not come at the expense of the nation’s finances.
“We are able to, pay down debt, and likewise, pay a substantial dividend to moderate-income Patriots within our Country!”
By linking tariffs to both military strength and economic health, Trump painted a comprehensive picture of his strategy to maintain US security and financial stability.
His statement implicitly contrasted this approach with that of the Biden administration, positioning his leadership as a return to economic strength and robust defense.
The proposed budget represents a 50 percent increase over the original Sh180 trillion figure and signals a decisive escalation in defense spending amid rising global tensions and increasing concerns over US military readiness.
Trump’s focus on tariffs reaffirms his commitment to protectionist economic policies, which he views as a key source of funding for expanding military capabilities.
His remarks suggest that economic nationalism and military expansion are intertwined pillars of his vision for America’s future.
As Congress begins deliberations over defense funding for 2027, Trump’s call for a Sh270 trillion military budget will be a major point of contention.
His vision for a Dream Military funded by tariff revenues seeks to rally support from both lawmakers and the American public.
Whether the administration’s ambitious budget will gain approval remains uncertain.
However, Trump’s announcement clearly stakes out a priority: to create a military force unmatched in history, financed by a strong economic foundation, and dedicated to keeping the United States safe and secure.
The coming months will be critical in determining how this vision shapes US defense policy and global military balance.
For now, US President Donald Trump has unequivocally declared his intention to build the dream military, backed by an unprecedented investment of Sh270 trillion.
